Angelina Jolie Refuses to Share Stories About Brad Pitt Despite Kids Wanting Her to Defend Herself in Divorce

Why Angelina Jolie Is Keeping Silent About Her Divorce from Brad Pitt

It’s been over eight years since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt first announced their split, and yet, the stars continue to attract headlines. Recently, they finalized a long-awaited divorce settlement, marking the end of an intense legal battle that spanned nearly a decade.

For those who may have forgotten, Jolie and Pitt began dating in 2005 after meeting on the set of the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Their marriage came in August 2014, attended by a mere 20 guests, including their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. Just a couple of years later, in 2016, Jolie filed for divorce following a purported altercation on a private jet, where Pitt was accused of physically and verbally assaulting both Jolie and their son Maddox. Authorities investigated the incident but ultimately found no evidence of wrongdoing on Pitt’s part.

Fast forward to December 30, 2024, when reports confirmed that the lengthy divorce process finally reached its conclusion. Jolie’s attorney indicated that she is “exhausted” but relieved to see a crucial chapter closed. “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” the lawyer stated, emphasizing that this settlement is only one aspect of a complicated journey.

Despite the settlement, neither party has offered any personal remarks about the outcome. High-profile divorces often have their share of drama, but this one has been particularly tumultuous, mired in allegations and the intricacies of shared assets and child custody.

Sources revealed that Jolie has refrained from publicly disparaging Pitt, even during their ongoing divorce saga. However, it has also been reported that their children, now mostly adults, had encouraged her to speak out and defend herself. An insider shared that while the kids wanted their mother to publicly address the situation, Jolie chose to focus on privacy and the broader picture, urging her children to concentrate on impactful matters rather than seeking public validation.

Jolie has devoted much time to advocating for human rights, especially the rights of children. In 2021, she published a book, Know Your Rights and Claim Them, aimed at empowering young people with awareness of their rights. She described her inspiration for the book as stemming from personal experiences that highlighted the need for legal protections for children, echoing sentiments from her divorce days.

Relationships among the former couple’s children seem to be complex, particularly with Pitt reportedly having limited contact with them. Some children have even opted to drop “Pitt” from their last names, reflecting a desire for independence from their father’s public persona. Reports indicate the younger twins still maintain visitation rights with Pitt as per an arrangement with Jolie.

As this saga continues to evolve, the reasons behind Jolie’s decision to remain silent become clearer. It’s not merely about avoiding drama; it’s about prioritizing her family’s healing and advocating for causes she believes in deeply. While the world may await her words, it appears that for Jolie, actions and advocacy speak louder than any public statements could.
