Heather Locklear Opens Up About Her ‘Melrose Place’ Character’s Reputation

 

In an exclusive interview, Heather Locklear reflects on the character she portrayed in the iconic series “Melrose Place,” Amanda Woodward, and considers whether she was truly as “mean” as people remember. The show, which originally aired from 1993 to 1999, was notorious for its drama, and Locklear’s character certainly added to that reputation.

 

Locklear, now 63, admits in a feature for Us Weekly that while she and Amanda may share a similar appearance, their personalities differ significantly. “I could never be as mean to people as she was,” she explains. “I think Amanda was often just unaware of how her words affected others. Unlike her, I genuinely care about being kind.”

 

Throughout her tenure on “Melrose Place,” Locklear appeared in a remarkable 199 episodes. Although such a demanding schedule might have worn out many actors, she expresses a willingness to revisit the beloved series. “I’d love to go back to Melrose Place,” she notes. “The experience was such a whirlwind; there was never really time to appreciate it fully.”

 

Locklear shares additional personal insights and fun anecdotes from her life. She reveals that her first vehicle was a dreamy sparkly blue Mazda RX7 and that she enjoys spending weekends with her family and dog, Mister, unwinding in front of the television. She also recalls a memorable moment on “The Late Show with David Letterman” when her admiration for Bruce Willis left her so flustered that she tripped, causing him to help her up.

 

In a candid admission, Locklear shares her fondness for tacos, made using her mother’s cherished recipe. Her ambitions extend beyond acting; she muses that if she weren’t an actress, she would likely pursue psychology, driven by her passion for understanding others.

 

As for her sleep routine, Locklear enjoys drifting off while listening to Matthew McConaughey’s soothing voice via the Calm app. She cites Hawaii as her favorite getaway, finding its beauty and tranquility rejuvenating to her soul.

 

Locklear is also gearing up for the premiere of her new film, “Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story,” airing on Lifetime at the end of this month.
