Ralph Blunsom, a cherished anchor at ITV News, has passed away at the age of 66. His death was announced on the evening of October 22, sparking an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and friends who remembered him fondly. The announcement was made during a broadcast by Rob Smith from ITV’s northern division, Granada Reports.

 

Ralph began his career with BBC North West before joining Granada in 2003, where he spent over two decades reporting significant global news events. He was notably on the scene during the tragic Morecambe Bay cockle-pickers incident in 2004, where more than 20 people lost their lives due to a sudden tide.

 

His colleagues shared heartfelt messages on social media, reminiscing about Ralph’s vibrant personality and his impact on those around him. Victoria Grimes expressed her sorrow with a touching post, stating, “A candle burning in the Granada Reports newsroom tonight for our Ralphy.
