President Joe Biden has faced criticism for his extensive vacation time.
Since taking office nearly four years ago, Biden is reported to have taken 532 vacation days. By comparison, the average American worker receives about 11 days off per year, meaning Biden’s time off equates to 48 years’ worth of vacation days, according to Sydtomarket.net.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) highlighted Biden’s “16th straight day on vacation” in a social media post featuring a video of the 81-year-old enjoying the sun at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The RNC’s data shows Biden has spent 40.3% of his presidency on vacation.
In the RNC video, Biden, wearing his signature aviator sunglasses, a black baseball cap, and a black t-shirt, is seen relaxing in a beach chair beside First Lady Jill Biden.
This extended break follows his early August visit to Rehoboth Beach. Critics, including former Trump administration officials, have condemned Biden for taking so many vacation days while global and domestic issues persist.
Mark Paoletta, former general counsel for the Trump White House, criticized Biden, saying, “The image of Biden asleep at the beach while America faces inflation, high prices, a chaotic border, and global instability will define his presidency.”
White House representatives countered that Biden has taken fewer vacation days than other presidents and is diligently working even while on vacation. Spokesperson Andrew Bates responded: “It’s not surprising that critics who also attack President Biden for enjoying hero dogs and ice cream miscount. He has taken fewer vacation days than the modern presidential average and continues to work hard wherever he is.”
On social media, some users mocked Biden’s frequent beach trips, questioning who is managing the country in his absence.
