‘Vanderpump Rules’ Stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Bring Twist in Sandwich Shop Legal Battle as Bitter Chef Accuses Them of Ghosting ‘Business Deal’

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are embroiled in a legal dispute with Chef Penny Davidi, a former friend, over their struggling sandwich venture, Something About Her. According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the stars of Vanderpump Rules are pushing back against Davidi’s claims, insisting that her lawsuit is based on speculative and unsupported assertions.

Chef Davidi, who has made occasional appearances on the Bravo network series, alleged that she was promised a significant role as the COO in exchange for a 10% stake in the business. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County, states that back in June 2023, the three entered a partnership to develop and manage the West Hollywood eatery. Davidi claims that she was to receive monthly management fees starting at $7,500, eventually rising to $10,000 next year, under the terms of their purported agreement.

Davidi contends that she performed considerable work as “COO/Director of Culinary,” overseeing culinary operations and fulfilling numerous responsibilities related to the restaurant management. In her legal complaint, she accuses Madix and Maloney of failing to uphold their side of the deal, demanding the court enforce the supposed agreement.

The dispute escalated after the pair were served court documents on August 8. In their joint response filed on September 9, Madix and Maloney denied all of Davidi’s allegations and asked the judge to dismiss the case entirely. Their lawyers argued that the lawsuit’s foundation is built on hypothetical scenarios and that it lacks the necessary elements for a legitimate legal challenge. They also suggested that Davidi’s delay in bringing the case forward and the informal nature of any potential agreement could preclude her from seeking recourse in court.

Davidi asserts that the agreement was effectively formed through verbal commitments and supported by conduct, as well as documented evidence, including recordings and past payments made by Madix and Maloney. Her complaint highlighted “numerous witnesses” who could corroborate her claims regarding the business arrangement that encompassed not only the restaurant but also related branding and merchandise rights.

While credited with creating the menu’s notable “Greek Goddess” sandwich, later rebranded to “The Meg,” Davidi expressed disappointment over the direction the restaurant has taken since her departure, claiming it lacks her original vision. She noted that while certain items reflect her culinary contributions, the overall offering has changed significantly.

Davidi harbored concerns about the long-term viability of Something About Her, warning that Madix and Maloney, lacking restaurant management experience, might struggle to sustain the business. She predicted that as patrons realize the absence of expertise in the operation, the restaurant could face insurmountable challenges ahead.
