A Maryland couple was killed in their bed by a barrage of 42 gunshots, while their four children hid for hours before finally reaching out to authorities

A tragic and violent incident in Maryland has left a couple dead, with 42 spent shell casings found at the scene, leading authorities to describe it as a “crime of rage and anger.” The double murder unfolded in the early hours of August 25, with Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins addressing the media to provide details on this disturbing case.

Children Hid for Hours After Maryland Couple Found Shot to Death in Bed

The victims, Crimea Baker, 33, and Sean Lange, 34, were discovered shot to death in their bed. The shocking discovery was made by one of Baker’s four children, all under the age of 11, who were in the house at the time of the shooting. Sheriff Jenkins revealed that the children had hidden for about four hours before they felt secure enough to contact emergency services. The children, who range in age from 11 years old to just 7 months old, endured a harrowing ordeal, waiting until the violence had subsided before seeking help.

According to Jenkins, the children made the call to 911 around 7 a.m., having initially sought safety and tried to understand what had happened. The sheriff expressed deep sympathy for the children, noting, “I can’t imagine what’s going through their minds. One of the children discovered his mother and the gentleman in the bed, dead, at the time. I can only say their lives are destroyed, upside-down right now.”

The tragedy has left the children physically unharmed but profoundly affected. They are now under the care of social services as the investigation into the murders continues. A fundraiser has been established to support the children and help ensure they remain together during this difficult time.

Sheriff Jenkins emphasized that the murders were a targeted attack, marking the case as a “heinous, targeted double murder, a crime of rage and anger.” He expressed that the brutality of the crime is shocking to the community, reflecting the gravity of the violence.

Though Jenkins did not disclose specific details about the weapon used, he confirmed that all the spent shell casings recovered from the scene were .40 caliber. The investigation remains active, with multiple law enforcement agencies working together to identify and locate the suspect responsible for this brutal crime. As of now, no suspect has been named, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in solving this case.
