Riley Keough’s two-year-old daughter, Tupelo, has taken a step into the family legacy by signing book inserts for Lisa Marie Presley’s memoir. In a recent TikTok post, Keough, 35, expressed excitement about offering a limited edition of “From Here to the Great Unknown,” which she co-wrote with her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley. The video showcased Keough signing inserts that included a photo of herself and Presley, while Tupelo could be seen playfully scribbling on an image nearby.
Keough shares her daughter with husband Ben Smith-Petersen. The couple welcomed Tupelo in August 2022 via surrogate, a fact that Us Weekly confirmed in January 2023. The memoir, released on October 8, touches on Keough’s personal journey and her relationship with her mother after Presley’s death earlier in 2023.
In the memoir, Keough reflects on the profound connection her mother shared with Tupelo, revealing how Presley was drawn to her granddaughter. “My mom instantly became obsessed with Tupelo,” Keough recalled, mentioning how Presley would visit her home and spend time alone with the young child. This sense of family bonding is a recurring theme throughout the book, which incorporates their perspectives in distinct fonts.
Despite the joy brought by her granddaughter, Keough acknowledges her mother’s struggles, particularly after the tragic death of her brother, Benjamin Keough, in July 2020. Riley was the first to learn of his passing and faced the heartbreaking task of informing Presley.
As Keough wrote in her memoir, even amidst the love for her family, it was evident that Lisa Marie carried the weight of her son’s loss. She poignantly noted, “We all knew my mom was going to die of a broken heart,” highlighting the sadness that lingered despite the light Tupelo brought into their lives.
In a touching moment, Riley recalls how her mother referred to Tupelo as “our little light,” expressing that Benjamin had a hand in bringing them together. Throughout the difficulties, the bond between the three generations remained a source of strength and love.
“From Here to the Great Unknown” is now available, offering readers an intimate look at the Presley family dynamics, their joys, and their heartaches.
