Luann de Lesseps Shares Whimsical Sleepover Experience at Tilda Swinton’s Castle
In an exclusive chat with Us Weekly, Luann de Lesseps opened up about her recent enchanting experience staying at actress Tilda Swinton’s Scottish castle. The former star of The Real Housewives of New York, now 59, reminisced about how this unexpected adventure unfolded following a visit from Swinton, 63, to one of de Lesseps’ Marry, F, Kill cabaret performances in June at London’s upscale Coco Club.
De Lesseps expressed her surprise and excitement when Swinton, after attending the show, kindly invited her to visit. “She came up to me after the show, saying, ‘Oh my darling, you spread so much joy, I love to watch you perform, but I imagine you must be exhausted after six shows in a row,’” she recalled. Soon thereafter, their teams exchanged contact information, and plans were swiftly set into motion.
They met again at a train station, and before long, de Lesseps found herself traveling to Scotland, where fellow RHONY alum Dorinda Medley happened to be filming the third season of The Traitors. “She’s the most eccentric person I’ve ever met,” de Lesseps noted, reflecting on Swinton’s unique personality. “I know many eccentric people from living in Europe, but Tilda stands out. Her family has roots going back to 800 AD, and the ‘humble abode’ she calls home is, in fact, a stunning castle set on 300 acres.”
During her stay, de Lesseps enjoyed delightful home-cooked meals prepared by Swinton, who even helped carry her luggage. The actress’s affectionate dog was also invited to keep de Lesseps company for the night. “She has four Irish Setters,” de Lesseps shared. “One of them, named Louie, climbed into bed with me, which was simply adorable.”
The fun didn’t stop there. The next day, the culinary experience continued as Swinton proudly prepared haggis, sharing its cultural significance with great enthusiasm. “She gave an entire presentation on it and even made dessert—everything was just wonderful,” de Lesseps said.
Following their cozy overnight gathering, the two became fast friends, with Swinton later inviting de Lesseps to the premiere of her new film, The Room Next Door, in New York City. De Lesseps missed the red carpet arrival but reconnected at the afterparty, expressing her admiration for the film: “It was just amazing.”
As Swinton’s film gears up for its theatrical release on December 20, with a wider roll-out planned for 2025, de Lesseps continues her own cabaret tour. For the latest updates on her performances, fans can check her official channels.
