Leslie Charleson, known for her long-standing role as Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital, may not be returning to the beloved daytime television show anytime soon. The 79-year-old actress has been absent from the screen since December, primarily due to ongoing health challenges. Sources indicate she is taking time to recover, with little expectation of a return to the set, according to insiders speaking to Closer Weekly.

Recently, Charleson was spotted enjoying a leisurely lunch in Los Angeles, accompanied by a caregiver and utilizing a walker for mobility. Despite her recent health issues—including several falls—she is described as managing well within her current circumstances. An insider shared that she is surrounded by friends, maintaining a social life, and not feeling pressured to rush back into work.

While the doors are open for her to return to General Hospital, the prevailing sentiment suggests that it is improbable she will reprise her role. Fans of the show and Charleson alike hope for the best as she focuses on her recovery.
