Melissa Gilbert Takes a Stand Against Little House on the Prairie Event Promoter

In an escalating dispute, Melissa Gilbert is pushing back against a promoter organizing 50th-anniversary events for her beloved television series, Little House on the Prairie. The 60-year-old actress, known for her role as Laura Ingalls Wilder from 1974 to 1983, voiced her discontent, describing the events as a “shocking affront” to loyal fans.

Gilbert made a brief appearance at a California festival in March, but her participation did not extend beyond that. She claims that Jack Bishop and his company, Gravel Road Markets LLC, continued to advertise her involvement, misleading fans into believing she was a co-producer of the events. “Fans were buying tickets to see me, and I knew that I wasn’t going to be there,” Gilbert stated, insisting that she would not collaborate with anyone misleading the public.

Adding to the controversy, Gilbert reported complaints from attendees regarding the poor organization of the events hosted by Gravel Road. She recounted serious issues, including shortages of food, overselling of tickets, and unpaid vendors, which she described as turning into a “waking nightmare.”

In solidarity, Gilbert and her former co-stars Alison Arngrim, Karen Grassle, Dean Butler, Charlotte Stewart, and Matthew Labyorteaux have collectively opted out of future events organized by Gravel Road. They are demanding that their names and likenesses be removed from all promotional materials associated with the events, citing a series of mismanagement issues.

Gilbert expressed her frustration, stating, “I think it really sheds a terrible light on the brand,” urging event organizers to uphold the quality and integrity that fans deserve.
