Amy Dowden withdraws from this weekend’s Strictly as BBC addresses her show future

Strictly star Amy Dowden has officially stepped back from the upcoming weekend show, according to a recent BBC update. The talented dancer was taken to the hospital after experiencing a medical emergency backstage following the live performance on Saturday night, October 26. Reports indicate that Amy collapsed just moments after finishing her Halloween-themed foxtrot alongside her partner JB Gill.

As the situation unfolded, the BBC issued a statement regarding Amy’s health and continued involvement in the show. Due to her hospital visit, she will not perform in the Saturday night episode scheduled for November 2. In her absence, professional dancer Lauren Oakley will step in to dance with JB for their planned couple’s choice routine.

On the spin-off show It Takes Two, host Fleur East shared heartfelt wishes for Amy’s speedy recovery, mentioning that the Strictly family is sending their love and support during this challenging time.

The BBC spokesperson conveyed optimistic news about Amy, stating that she is feeling much better. They expressed their gratitude to Lauren Oakley for agreeing to take over the rehearsals and performance. The statement concluded with hopes that Amy would return to the dance floor with JB the following week.

Reports surfaced over the weekend that an ambulance, along with fire brigade assistance, was required to transport Amy to the hospital, although the specific health issue that led to her hospitalization remains undisclosed. Earlier this year, Amy celebrated being cancer-free after her battle with breast cancer, and she has been open about managing Crohn’s disease.

Fans and the Strictly family are rallying together, sending well wishes to Amy during her recovery period.
