Strictly star Jamie Borthwick has responded to Motsi Mabuse’s recent enthusiastic prediction regarding his chances in the competition. Despite the glowing remarks from the dancing judge, Jamie is not swayed by the spotlight and remains cautious. The EastEnders actor shared his thoughts during an appearance on It Takes Two.

When Janette Manrara asked Jamie about the pressure implied by Motsi’s comments on the results show, where she suggested he is becoming “the one to beat,” he remained level-headed. Jamie remarked, “I certainly don’t know about that. From the beginning, I said I won’t fall into any pressure traps. The dynamics of this competition can shift drastically.”

He emphasized his focus on self-improvement rather than getting caught up in potential rankings, stating, “Everything can change so quickly, and I’m not taking anything for granted. We are simply trying to enhance our performances week by week, both for my growth and for my partner, Michelle.”

Despite downplaying the accolades, Jamie captivated audiences with his recent American Smooth performance, styled after the Addams Family, which earned praise from judge Shirley Ballas, who referred to Michelle Tsiakkas’ choreography as “pure genius.” Coming up, Jamie and pro dancer Michelle will perform a Samba to the iconic song “Faith” by George Michael. Jamie has expressed a particular fondness for Latin dances, raising expectations for their next performance.
