Oti Mabuse diagnosed with pre-diabetes, aims to regain strength as Loose Women stars express shock

Oti Mabuse made an appearance on Loose Women today where she candidly discussed her recent pre-diabetes diagnosis, leaving the show’s panel in disbelief. The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, who welcomed her first child, a daughter, in December of last year, shared that she was originally diagnosed with gestational diabetes, a condition that has affected her family members.

During the show, Oti revealed her motivations for maintaining her fitness and health after becoming a mother. She emphasized that her focus isn’t on a quick return to her previous physique, stating, “My reason for getting back into fitness was that I found out I was pre-diabetic.” She expressed her goal of returning to a state of strength where she can manage her dietary habits and regulate her sugar levels.

“I am still pre-diabetic, and it’s about trying to reach a place where I feel strong, have control over my food, and keep my sugar levels in check,” she elaborated. “It’s not about being skinny; it’s about being strong and having the energy to play with my daughter.” The audience responded with applause as Oti passionately shared her journey.

To provide context, gestational diabetes is a condition that typically arises during pregnancy and is believed to occur due to hormonal changes from the placenta that affect insulin usage. Pre-diabetic individuals exhibit elevated blood sugar levels that are not high enough to qualify for a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Medical professionals often recommend lifestyle changes to prevent the progression to type 2 diabetes.

In September, Oti took to Instagram to document her impressive weight loss journey following her daughter’s birth, revealing she transitioned from a size 18 to a more fit size 10. She remarked, “I started to change how I approached food, movement, and the way I saw my own body. This journey isn’t just about being skinny; it’s about building strength, confidence, and discipline in a way that feels sustainable and authentic.”

Additionally, during her appearance on Loose Women, Oti addressed rumors surrounding her potential participation in the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity, which premieres on November 17. While she cleverly dodged direct questions, her enthusiasm for the show was evident. “I love I’m A Celebrity, I really, really do. Since I moved here, it’s been one of my favorite shows,” she confessed, leaving fans speculating about her involvement.

As viewers continue to rally behind Oti, her commitment to health and motherhood shines through, making her an inspiring figure on and off the screen.
