Ben Shephard announces project as he explains absence from This Morning

Ben Shephard has opened up about his temporary absence from This Morning, shedding light on why he won’t be in the studio for the coming weeks. The popular British television presenter, known for his work alongside Cat Deeley, had previously hinted at taking some time off, sparking speculation that he might be participating in the current season of I’m A Celebrity.

During a recent segment, Ben shared some exciting news with viewers. “I have something to announce,” he said. “I’m stepping away for a couple of weeks to work on a thrilling project for ITV. It’s top secret, and I’m heading to the other side of the world, but I can’t reveal the exact location just yet.” His co-host Cat Deeley jokingly probed him about potential jungle activities, asking, “Are you going to be eating witchetty grubs? Are you going to see my two mates?” Ben responded playfully, “I can’t confirm or deny where I’m going or who I’ll meet.”

As the show progressed, the mystery unfolded. On November 11, Cat, alongside guest host Alison Hammond, connected with Ben, who revealed he was in New Zealand. “I’m not in the jungle! I’ve ventured a bit further south, and I’m in New Zealand, where I’m set to host a brand new show for ITV called The Summit,” he clarified.

Ben elaborated on the show’s intriguing concept, which will feature 14 participants tackling the ascent of a mountain in New Zealand’s southern Alps, all vying for a chance at a £200,000 cash prize. “I’m going to be guiding them through their journey,” Ben explained. “I’ll be checking in with them each night, discussing the challenges they face. If they reach the summit, they’ll earn the prize together.”

Expressing his enthusiasm, Ben stated, “I’ve always been passionate about fitness and adventure, but this takes it to a whole new level. I’ll be suited up in my mountain gear to support them as they strive to conquer the mountain and deal with the formidable challenges posed by the Mountain’s Keeper. I’m eager to see who makes it to The Summit because those who do will have truly earned every penny of that prize.”

In other news, Ben recently faced disappointment as ITV announced the cancellation of his show Ninja Warrior following the surge in popularity of a competing program on BBC. Stay tuned for more updates on Ben’s adventures and the new projects unfolding in the world of television.
