Lauren Oakley tries to resist singing in training with JB Gill before Blackpool

Strictly star Lauren Oakley is finding it challenging to keep her composure in rehearsals with JB Gill as the pair gears up for their performance in Blackpool. Lauren recently opened up about her amusing struggle to refrain from belting out JLS hits while rehearsing with the famous musician.

JB Gill, who originally partnered with Amy Dowden, now dances with Lauren after Amy had to withdraw due to a foot injury. Amy had been eagerly participating in this year’s competition after bravely returning from her battle with cancer in 2023. JB and Amy quickly became fan favorites, but the unexpected partner switch led to Lauren stepping in to take over.

While one might assume that the greatest challenge for Lauren would be familiarizing herself with JB’s dancing style on such short notice, she revealed that her real challenge lies in suppressing the urge to sing JLS songs. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed her delight and frustration, stating, “It’s just SO HARD being in a room with JB and suppressing the constant need to break out in a JLS song.”

The fans responded with enthusiasm, sharing how relatable they found her predicament. One fan commented, “I can absolutely imagine that. But that room must be filled with joy, laughter, and hard work.” Another encouraged her to embrace her feelings, saying, “On behalf of all JLS fans, just do it!” A popular suggestion from fans was to incorporate a JLS song into their routine, acknowledging that the band’s upbeat tracks could certainly add some fun to their performance.

As they head into one of the most exciting weekends of the competition, Lauren and JB are set to perform at Blackpool, a highlight of the Strictly Come Dancing season. The show, which has seen JB once again showcasing his dancing talent, has captivated audiences since its inception, particularly after JLS was formed on The X Factor back in 2008. With a legacy of hit songs, the pressure is on for JB and Lauren as they prepare for their upcoming dance on Saturday night.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with their results show following on Sunday nights. Fans are eager to see if Lauren will finally give in to the temptation of a JLS tune during their routine. What are your thoughts on JB and Lauren’s dynamic?
