Mickey Guyton’s Pre-Show Ritual: A Prayer and Tequila Shot

Mickey Guyton Reveals Her Pre-Show Ritual In a recent exclusive revelation, country music star Mickey Guyton opened up about her unique pre-show routine that she shared with Us Weekly. At 41, Guyton has developed a playful yet effective way to combat stage fright before performing. “I definitely have some rosé because it just gets me loose,” she stated, adding that sometimes she opts for “one shot of tequila” to help ease her nerves. “It takes away the fear, and I’m ready to go. And we always say a prayer with the band before we head out.”

When it comes to her wine of choice, Guyton keeps it simple and fun, indicating that her backstage rosé can be “any” variety as long as it’s chilled. “It can be canned or in a glass—just as long as it’s cold and in my hand,” she quipped.

Lighting is another crucial element in Guyton’s backstage experience. She emphasized the need for “great lighting,” but she specified that it shouldn’t be too cold since backstage areas are often frigid. Additionally, she enjoys having a fragrant candle nearby to enhance the atmosphere. “I’m not too picky, to be honest,” she noted.

The honesty Guyton injects into her music is echoed in her close relationships, particularly with her husband, Grant Savoy. Her latest album, House on Fire, features numerous heartfelt love songs that reflect their 14-year partnership. Guyton, who performed on her first headlining tour earlier this month, recalled a chaotic tour experience from her earlier days: “Our bus broke down in the middle of the night twice, so we had to catch a flight.”

Despite the challenges, including scrambling to get ready just minutes before a performance, Guyton described the show as “surprisingly going really well.” Having released music since 2015, she expressed a special fondness for performing her debut song, “Better Than You Left Me.” “It really engages the crowd,” she remarked about the fan-favorite tune.

For her afterparty, Guyton prefers a casual vibe over clubbing. “I like to keep things chill,” she explained. “A good lounge with free drinks and an open bar is ideal for me.”

Interestingly, once the show wraps up, her music taste shifts away from country. “I really enjoy old ‘90s hip-hop,” she revealed, specifying artists like Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur as part of her preferred genre. “It just always brings the mood up.”
