First Trailer Released for Live-Action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Starring Mason Thames and Gerard Butler

Universal Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise. This debut offers a fascinating glimpse into the new film, which features Mason Thames stepping into the role of Hiccup and Gerard Butler returning as Chief Stoick the Vast, reprising his iconic voice role from the animated series.

 

The film’s synopsis sets the stage on the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been traditional adversaries for centuries. Hiccup, portrayed by Thames, is the inventive and often overlooked son of Chief Stoick. Defying age-old Viking customs, he forms an unlikely friendship with Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. This unique bond challenges the very foundation of Viking society, revealing the true essence of dragons.

 

Joining Hiccup on his journey are Astrid, played by Nico Parker, and the village’s eccentric blacksmith, Gobber, portrayed by Nick Frost. Together, they confront fears and misunderstandings in a world on the brink of chaos. As an ancient danger threatens both dragons and Vikings, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes essential in paving the way towards a new era of peace.
