British luxury fashion house Burberry has announced the appointment of Stella King as an independent non-executive director, effective April 1, 2025. King brings a wealth of experience in the luxury market, having held prominent roles at renowned brands such as Moncler, Sergio Rossi, and Lane Crawford.
In her current position at Moncler, where she has worked for over a decade, Stella has made significant contributions, including serving as President for the Asia Pacific region before transitioning to Chief Chinese Business Officer in January 2022. She will conclude her tenure in that role by the end of December 2024. Notably, she also held a non-executive director position with Stone Island, related to Moncler, from March 2021 until April 2024.
As part of this transition, Burberry also announced the upcoming retirements of board members Fabiola Arredondo and Antoine de Saint-Affrique, who will step down following the annual general meeting in July 2025. Arredondo has been instrumental in several committees since she joined the board in March 2015, including serving as chair of the Remuneration Committee. Saint-Affrique has been with Burberry since January 2021 and has actively participated in both the Audit and Nomination Committees.
Gerry Murphy, Chairman of Burberry, expressed confidence in King’s appointment, stating that her extensive understanding of the luxury landscape and consumer preferences in the Asia Pacific region will be invaluable to the brand. Murphy also took the opportunity to thank Arredondo and Saint-Affrique for their dedicated service over the years, recognizing their contributions to the company.
In a company statement, Burberry confirmed that there are no additional disclosures to be made regarding Stella King’s upcoming role, adhering to regulatory obligations. With these strategic board changes, Burberry aims to continue its commitment to innovative leadership and navigating the evolving luxury market landscape.
