Kristen Doute is on her way to the altar with Luke Broderick.
Sydtomarket.net has learned that the 41-year-old reality star was completely surprised when her boyfriend of two years proposed during a romantic boat ride in Hawaii. Doute shared the happy news on Instagram with a photo of Broderick down on one knee, framed by a stunning tropical sunset. In her caption, she wrote, “I’m wrapped around your finger like this ring I’m wearing… out of all the fish in the sea, you chose me.”
The *Vanderpump Rules* alum admitted that she couldn’t hold back some expletives before excitedly saying “yes.” Broderick made the proposal even more memorable by presenting a “4.27-carat emerald-cut diamond with an additional half-carat of diamonds on the band and hidden halo,” according to *Us Weekly*. Doute thanked her friend, jewelry designer Kyle Chan, for creating the beautiful ring.
The couple met in June 2022 at a wedding, where Broderick was a groomsman, and sparks flew immediately. Doute shared, “I knew from the moment we met that Luke was my person. I’m so excited to continue this journey together, now as fiancés.”
Despite their connection, Doute admitted she had reservations early in their relationship due to their eight-year age gap, Broderick’s passion for hunting, and the long-distance between Colorado, where Broderick lived, and Los Angeles, where Doute resided.
Reflecting on their relationship, Doute told her new fiancé, “I struggled with the idea of being your person. I love you so much, but the thought of just being someone’s girlfriend again threw me for a loop. I want to be a wife, a mother, and a partner, and I was tired of relationships falling apart.”
Broderick agreed, adding, “You really tried not to fall in love with me because of my age, the distance, and everything else that didn’t make sense logically, but here we are.”
Doute’s fans have followed her rocky love life on *Vanderpump Rules*, where she dated Tom Sandoval and later had a turbulent relationship with James Kennedy. After being fired from the show in 2020, she returned to Bravo for the spinoff *The Valley*, which documented her relationship with Broderick and their struggles to conceive following a miscarriage. Season two, currently in production, will follow the couple as they move in together and continue building their life.
Meanwhile, her fellow *Valley* castmates, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, face new challenges, with Cartwright contemplating divorce after five years of marriage. Season two will also explore the breakup of another couple, Jesse and Michelle Lally, whose relationship ended in the season one finale.
