Billy Zane is set to dazzle audiences as he takes on the iconic role of Marlon Brando in the forthcoming biopic, ‘Waltzing with Brando.’ At 58, Zane is ready to embody the legendary actor, portraying his journey to superstardom and exploring his preparation for memorable roles in classics like ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Last Tango in Paris,’ both released in 1972.

The first look at the film reveals Zane’s striking transformation into Brando as he steps into the shoes of Vito Corleone, the character that solidified Brando’s status as a cinematic legend. Donning Brando’s signature tuxedo with a red rose boutonniere, Zane perfectly captures the essence of the beloved character, complete with a trademark mustache and slicked-back hairstyle. Beyond his appearance, in the initial trailer for ‘Waltzing with Brando,’ he also mirrors the Oscar winner’s distinct voice and mannerisms.

Zane recited a memorable line from ‘The Godfather,’ asking, “Why did you go to the police? Why didn’t you come to me first?” His portrayal promises not only to reflect Brando’s cinematic achievements but also delves into the actor’s personal life, including his collaboration with architect Bernard Judge to create an idyllic retreat on a remote Tahitian island. This narrative is grounded in Judge’s memoir, which recounts their endeavors to establish a sustainable living space.

Most of the film was shot on Tetiaroa, the very island where Brando and Judge built their friendship. Earlier this year, Zane shared throwback photos from the filming process on social media, showcasing his character in various settings. One particularly notable image featured him in a casual denim ensemble and straw hat, walking along Tahiti’s picturesque beaches. Another shot captured him relaxing in a director’s chair adorned with Brando’s name.

Giulio Base, the film’s art director, praised Zane’s commitment to the role, stating that he was truly inspired by Marlon Brando.

Set to premiere at the Torino Film Festival in Italy during its closing night, ‘Waltzing with Brando’ is generating buzz ahead of its theatrical release in 2025.
