The First Look: Superman Trailer Debuts with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan

In an exciting new chapter for the iconic superhero, the teaser for James Gunn’s latest iteration of Superman was unveiled on December 19. Starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as the tenacious Lois Lane, this upcoming film promises a fresh take on the beloved comic saga.

The trailer kicks off with a dramatic scene featuring an injured Superman plunging into the Arctic. In a whimsical moment, he calls upon his loyal canine companion, Krypto, who responds heroically by tugging on Superman’s cape to assist him. Viewers are treated to glimpses of a talented, starry cast, including Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, who is seen scheming from his corporate perch at LuthorCorp, all while brandishing a firearm.

In addition to Corenswet and Brosnahan, the film features a lineup of heroes including Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, who join Superman in various epic settings. The film, set to be screened in 2025, is described as a return to the roots of the DC cinematic universe. Notably, it will now simply be titled Superman.

Initially announced in January 2023, just a month after Henry Cavill stepped back from the role, this film has generated considerable anticipation. The trailer hints at a narrative filled with stunning action sequences, although details about the storyline remain scarce. One intriguing moment shows a bystander hurling a can at Superman, suggesting that public skepticism might play a role in the film’s plot.

The preview also includes a heartwarming scene of Superman and Lois Lane sharing a kiss while levitating, swiftly followed by a powerful launch into the skies. Brosnahan expressed her excitement about stepping into the shoes of Lois Lane, saying, “I have big shoes to fill… but this Superman is being made with a lot of love.” She praised the creative leadership of Gunn and reflected on the honor it is to join this legendary franchise.

Corenswet, for his part, has undergone a significant physical transformation for the role, expressing enthusiasm about his journey. “I wanted this to be my excuse to see what it felt like to gain as much weight as I could,” he shared. Meanwhile, Gunn has praised Corenswet’s talent, indicating that audiences will be “freaked out” by his portrayal of Superman.

As Gunn oversees the project alongside Peter Safran, he assures fans that this story will explore aspects of Superman not often seen in previous films. With a cast full of talent and a director committed to innovation, Superman is set to make a thrilling comeback to the big screen, with its release scheduled for July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.
