Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Reveals How He Missed Her Pregnancy Announcement
In a recent episode of her podcast “Just a Little Shady,” Hailie Jade Scott opened up about the amusing moment her father, Eminem, failed to catch on to her pregnancy announcement. The rapper, known for his extensive list of accolades including 15 Grammy Awards, was initially perplexed when Hailie surprised him with a Detroit Lions jersey reading “Grandpa” on the back.
Hailie, now 28, revealed that Eminem, 51, first reacted with confusion, asking, “Are you trying to call me old? Why are you giving me this jersey that says grandpa?” Laughter ensued when she then presented him with an ultrasound photo, prompting a complete shift in his demeanor. “Oh my God. Wait, this is real? This is happening?” he exclaimed, realizing the gravity of the situation.
The unexpected revelation was captured on video as the father-daughter duo was on set filming for Eminem’s “Temporary” music video. The individual recording their interaction was just as shocked, leading to an amusing moment where their reactions had to be muted due to their astonishment.
Hailie went on to describe how Eminem embraced the news after digesting it. He decided to help with the family reveal during a gathering to watch a Detroit Lions game. Clad in the jersey, he cleverly kept the meaning hidden beneath a jacket until the big moment arrived, where he unveiled the message to the family. Even then, some relatives were momentarily baffled until Hailie showed them the ultrasound picture.
As the episode progressed, she and her husband Evan McClintock shared the exciting news about the sex of their baby, expressing their joy at welcoming a little boy into their family. Hailie reflected on McClintock’s enthusiasm with thoughts of future bonding activities, stating, “When we found out, Evan was like, ‘They’re going to hunt with me. They’re going to go golfing with me. I’ve got a little buddy.'”
The couple, who began dating during their time at Michigan State University in 2016, recently tied the knot in May 2024 following their engagement in February. Despite their individual dreams for their child, Hailie humorously reminded her husband that their baby would also be accompanying her to Target.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has built a legendary career in music and shares Hailie with ex-wife Kimberly Anne Scott. The rapper also has two other daughters, Alaina and Stevie.
