Father of Georgia High School Shooting Suspect ‘Called Him Sissy’ and ‘Gifted AR-15-Style Rifle to Toughen Him Up’

A shocking revelation has emerged about the father of 14-year-old Colt Gray, the suspect in a tragic school shooting in Georgia. Sources indicate that Colin Gray, in an attempt to “man up” his son, reportedly gifted him an AR-15-style rifle last Christmas. This chilling act is believed to contribute to the horrific events that unfolded at Apalachee High School on September 4, where Colt allegedly opened fire, leading to the deaths of two students and two teachers.

The victims of this devastating incident were students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, along with math teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53. In addition to the fatalities, numerous others, including eight students and one teacher, sustained injuries during the shooting spree.

According to a relative who spoke to the New York Post, Colin Gray often belittled his son with derogatory names, insisting that Colt was too soft and needed to toughen up. The relative described a toxic environment where Colin would call Colt names like “sissy,” words that no child should ever hear. This alarming behavior raised serious concerns within the family regarding the impact it had on the young boy’s emotional state.

Colt Gray now faces four counts of murder and is being charged as an adult, potentially facing life behind bars if convicted. As a minor, he is not eligible for the death penalty. In a parallel legal battle, his father, Colin Gray, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts including involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and child cruelty. If found guilty on all counts, Colin could receive a sentence totaling up to 180 years.

The shocking acquisition of the rifle had some family members in disbelief. One relative expressed their horror upon learning that Colin presented his son with such a dangerous weapon, labeling it a recipe for disaster. With reports revealing that Colt struggled with bullying at school, being taunted as “gay” and picked on, Colin defended his son during previous investigations, claiming that Colt was enduring a challenging time.

Despite earlier interactions with the FBI, where both Colt and Colin were interviewed about Colt’s alleged access to firearms, no substantial evidence surfaced for any charges at that time. As this tragic case unfolds, family members are left grappling with the consequences of a father’s misguided attempt to toughen his son in a world filled with escalating violence.

The community is now left to mourn the lives lost and to reflect on the underlying issues that may have contributed to this heartbreaking event.
