Hoda Kotb Embraces Halloween in New Suburban Home After Moving
Hoda Kotb is gearing up for her inaugural Halloween celebration in her new suburban neighborhood, following her recent move from New York City. The beloved host expressed her excitement about the festive season during a segment on Today With Hoda & Jenna, revealing how different the experience is from her previous urban trick-or-treating adventures.
During the episode aired on October 18, Hoda, 60, shared her nostalgic memories of taking her two daughters, Haley and Hope, out for Halloween in the city, where stops often included local businesses like CVS and nail salons. “My kids thought trick-or-treating meant entering a store and receiving candy from the counter,” she noted, highlighting the stark contrast to the suburban experience she’s now enjoying.
As she settles into her new community, Hoda has observed a delightful array of Halloween decorations that adorn her new neighborhood. “Everywhere I look, there are massive spiderwebs and all kinds of festive displays,” she remarked. “They even have parades! I’m told that kids need a minimum of three Halloween costumes because the first one will probably get messy.”
This Halloween is particularly special for her daughters, ages 7 and 5, as they look forward to various celebrations, including a town parade and school festivities. “In our new town, some streets are even blocked off for block parties before trick-or-treating; it’s a multi-day celebration,” Hoda explained.
Jenna Bush Hager, her co-host, commended Hoda for fully embracing suburban life with her children, especially after raising them in a bustling NYC apartment. Hoda also plans to add to the Halloween spirit by carving pumpkins with her family soon. With enthusiasm, she recounted, “I can hardly believe this is my life now! We’re inviting friends over, having dinner, and ordering pizza—it’s all so surreal.”
Reflecting on her transition to the suburbs, Hoda shared insights about her family’s move and her daughters’ first day at their new school. She recalled how she walked them to school with coffee in hand, feeling a strong sense of community. “We’ve enjoyed seven incredible years in the city, but I believe children also need a connection to nature,” she said.
Hoda described this period of her life as a “repotting phase,” where she feels a need for personal growth and new experiences. It’s a significant change, not just in location but in lifestyle. Anticipating the future, she disclosed plans to leave her role on Today in early 2025 to dedicate more time to her family.
As Halloween approaches, it’s clear Hoda is fully immersed in her new life and cherishing every moment of it.
