Karen E. Laine, the beloved star of Good Bones, has recently embarked on a significant chapter in her life. Following the conclusion of season 8 of the show in October 2023, Karen, 62, shared news of a big move and a new career path. On January 17, she took to Instagram to announce that she purchased a cozy new home in Greenfield, Indiana, after putting her recently renovated Wilmington, North Carolina property on the market.

In a lively video, Karen was joined by fellow Good Bones alum Cory Miller, with whom she has developed a strong friendship beyond the show. Together, they are eager to collaborate once again to transform Karen’s new Indiana residence into her dream home. “Thanks to @lcsheatingandcooling always being amazing and to @cory_miller30 for always being willing to saddle up for any shenanigans I have in store,” she wrote, expressing her excitement for the project.

During the video, Karen provided a glimpse into her move, mentioning that she had already transported half of her belongings, including a bed, table, and chair, to her new digs, complete with her dog and cat in tow. Karen also revealed that she has taken on a full-time position in Greenfield, stating, “I got a real job in Greenfield, and I’m working full time, and I need to make this house everything it should be.”

Fans had previously watched her dedicate considerable time and energy to transforming her Wilmington home into a colorful retreat, designed for family visits, particularly from her grandkids. However, Karen has since realized that her priorities have shifted, noting that spending time with her family in Indiana is essential to her happiness.

Reflecting on her initial plans for the Wilmington house, she said, “What I thought this house was going to be for me has completely changed…I would miss my family too much.” Now, she envisions her North Carolina property as a place to visit rather than a permanent residence.

When Karen announced that her Wilmington home was listed for $500,000, fans were taken aback. Clarifying her decision in a recent Instagram comment, she noted, “Five grandkids in Indy that weren’t there when I bought the Wilmington house tipped the scales a different direction.”

Additionally, her followers were interested in her new full-time job, with one asking if it relates to law or home renovations. Karen confirmed her role is indeed legal, stating she works as a deputy prosecutor in Indiana.

With these changes, it’s clear that Karen E. Laine is embracing a fresh start filled with new adventures, balancing her career and family life while cherishing her passion for home renovation.
