Melissa Gilbert is finding herself in the crosshairs of controversy as she confronts an event promoter behind a series of 50th-anniversary gatherings for her iconic television show, Little House on the Prairie. The actress, known for her role as Laura Ingalls Wilder on the beloved series that aired from 1974 to 1983, recently labeled these events as a “shocking affront” to the show’s loyal fanbase.

Though she made an appearance at a festival in California earlier this year, Gilbert has not continued her involvement and alleges that Jack Bishop and his company, Gravel Road Markets LLC, continued to mislead the public about her participation, even falsely suggesting that she was a co-producer of these events.

“I was aware that fans were purchasing tickets under the assumption that I would be there, and I had to make it clear that I would not,” Gilbert stated emphatically on social media. “I refuse to collaborate with anyone who operates in this manner. No exceptions.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Gilbert pointed out numerous complaints from attendees, revealing that many were dissatisfied with the quality and organization of the events. “From what I’ve gathered, it turned into a waking nightmare,” she claims, highlighting issues like food shortages, oversold tickets, and unpaid vendors.

Alongside her former castmates—including Alison Arngrim, Karen Grassle, and Dean Butler—Gilbert has made it abundantly clear that they will no longer participate in Gravel Road’s future events. They are demanding the removal of their names and images from promotional materials associated with these poorly executed gatherings. In a statement, Gilbert critiqued how the events were marketed as “sold out” instead of officially canceled, reinforcing her stance that such practices tarnish the legacy of Little House on the Prairie.

“I think it really casts a dark shadow over the brand,” she added, underlining her concerns about how these events reflect on the cherished series that holds a special place in the hearts of many.
