Minnesota Man, 31, Arrested for Allegedly Executing Father in Hunting Cabin Before Uncle

A Minnesota man, Kirk Edward Hezlett III, has been charged with the shocking murder of his father, Kirk Edward Hezlett II, carried out in an “execution style” manner in front of witnesses at a remote hunting cabin. Reports indicate that the 31-year-old allegedly entered the cabin where a family dinner was taking place and shot his father in the head at point-blank range, enraging those present.

Witnesses claim that the incident unfolded on the evening of November 15, as the family enjoyed their meal, with an ongoing dispute believed to have sparked the violent encounter. The Pine County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the scene by a 911 call indicating that Hezlett III had just shot his father in a neighboring cabin, about 80 miles north of Minneapolis.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Hezlett II lying face down on the floor, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, notably nine to his head and torso. The victim’s brother, who was dining with them, recounted a frantic scene where he received an alert from a motion-activated camera just before chaos erupted. In a terrifying turn of events, Hezlett III purportedly ordered the remaining witnesses to sit on the couch as they begged for their lives. Even after shooting his father, who was still alive at that moment, he is accused of approaching him again to ensure he was dead with one final shot to the head.

The incident gained further notoriety as it was revealed that this family was no stranger to conflict, with police having previously intervened in a disturbance involving the father and son just weeks prior, resulting in Hezlett III being banned from the property.

Authorities apprehended Hezlett III at his residence in Cambridge, where they also recovered a vehicle he used to reach the cabin. He is currently held on a staggering $3 million bond while facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, kidnapping, and burglary.
