Police Video Captures Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s June Traffic Stop

Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s recent traffic stop has made headlines, with police video of the encounter now in circulation. According to reports, the stop took place on June 29 in Tyler, Texas, around 8:30 PM, just months after Mahomes Sr. faced a DWI arrest in the same city. This time, however, the situation unfolded quite differently for the father of NFL star Patrick Mahomes II.

The body cam footage reveals Mahomes Sr.’s surprise when informed of a potential traffic violation he had committed. “Oh, it’s a no passing zone?” he asked upon realizing the infraction. After providing his information to the responding officer, the mood shifted as the officer noted that Mahomes Sr.’s license was “not eligible.” He reiterated this point as they discussed the details.

Ultimately, Mahomes Sr. received a citation for driving with an invalid license and was also given a warning for ignoring traffic signs. After this exchange, he was allowed to continue on his way without further incident.

This encounter was a stark contrast to his previous traffic stop on February 3, where he was pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving. In that instance, footage showed Mahomes Sr. attempting to leverage his son’s fame to avoid trouble, a tactic that failed to garner any leniency as he ended up being arrested.

Since these incidents, Mahomes Sr. has closed the books on both cases and indicated to reporters in September that he has quit drinking altogether.
