Prince Harry Wins $12 Million in 6-Year Legal Battle Against Tabloid for Illegal Snooping

Prince Harry Cashes In Big After Settling Lawsuit Against Tabloid Publisher

Prince Harry has secured a substantial financial settlement, reportedly exceeding $12 million, in a prolonged legal dispute against the publisher of a British tabloid. The settlement comes after News Group Newspapers (NGN), the parent company of The Sun, acknowledged hiring private investigators to illegally gather information on Harry from 1996 to 2011.

The six-year legal battle has finally reached its conclusion, with Harry receiving an eight-figure payout for the damages inflicted during this extensive case. NGN issued a public apology to the royal, expressing remorse for their actions and confirming their agreement to pay “substantial damages.” However, this gesture did not come without criticism. Harry’s attorney, David Sherborne, sharply criticized the publisher in a statement, revealing the scale of NGN’s dubious practices.

Sherborne stated, “The uncovered truth indicates that NGN unlawfully employed over 100 private investigators on more than 35,000 occasions over a span of 16 years. This misconduct occurred at The Sun as well as the now-defunct News of the World, with knowledge reaching the highest levels of the company.”

Sherborne also highlighted the personal toll this ordeal has taken on Harry and his family, noting that they’ve faced aggressive media scrutiny since the lawsuit began. He commended the Duke for his courage in standing up against what he termed the “untouchable” media.

The attorney further called out Rupert Murdoch, the media magnate behind NGN, urging him to issue a personal apology not only to Harry but also to King Charles and the many others who have endured similar invasive tactics from Murdoch’s media empire.

NGN extended its apologies to Harry as well as to his late mother, Princess Diana, acknowledging the distress caused during her life. Their statement included an acknowledgment of the negative impact on Harry’s relationships and overall well-being.

The timing of Harry’s settlement is particularly notable amidst rumors that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, are facing financial strain. Recent reports suggest that their latest ventures, including Harry’s docuseries on Netflix, have failed to achieve expected viewer engagement. Industry insiders indicated that the lack of promotion for these projects reflects poorly on the couple’s standing within the entertainment sphere.

As Prince Harry moves forward with this settlement, it appears to be both a victory in terms of accountability for media malpractice and a crucial financial lifeline for him and Meghan during a challenging time.
