Ryan Reynolds Reaches Out to DWTS’ Danny Amendola and Witney Carson Following Epic Deadpool Dance
In an exciting twist for fans of Dancing With the Stars, Ryan Reynolds recently showed his appreciation for contestants Danny Amendola and Witney Carson after their impressive Deadpool and Wolverine-inspired performance. During the Halloween Nightmares episode aired on October 29, the duo shared their joy with Us Weekly, explaining just how thrilling it was to receive a shoutout from Reynolds.
After their jazz routine, which aired on Disney Night on October 22, both dancers had expressed their hopes of getting a reaction from either Reynolds or Hugh Jackman, the stars of the respective Deadpool franchise. To their delight, it was Reynolds who made their dreams come true. Carson, 31, recounted the moment they discovered Reynolds had shared their dance video on social media, saying, “We were at rehearsal when he reposted Danny’s post, then I shared it as well, and he reposted mine too, which was amazing.”
The pair felt so grateful for Reynolds’ support that they decided to send him a thank-you video in response. “It was just really cool. He’s such a nice guy,” Carson added. According to Amendola, Reynolds replied with a heartfelt message expressing his appreciation for their talent and their creative homage to Deadpool.
The duo scored an impressive 27 points for their Disney Night dance, which featured the hit song “Bye Bye Bye” by ‘NSync. After adding points from their group performance, their total for the night climbed to 35. On the following week, for their Halloween tango set to RAVN’s “Poison,” they garnered 28 points but missed out on bonus points due to a tough dance-off against competitors Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson.
During their journey in the competition, their progress hasn’t gone unnoticed by the judges. Despite mixed feedback, with some pointing out footwork flaws, Carson was thrilled to earn a perfect score of 10 from judge Carrie Ann Inaba for the technical difficulty of their routine.
As they continue their run in the competition, Amendola shared the rigorous nature of the rehearsal process, joking that learning the challenging choreography made his “brain feel like mush.” Despite the aches and pains that come with the intense training, both he and Carson are committed to improving their skills as they aim for the coveted mirrorball trophy.
The excitement around DWTS is palpable, and with Reynolds backing their efforts, it only adds to the thrill of the competition. Fans can tune in for more dances and dramatic moments as Dancing With the Stars returns after a brief hiatus on November 12 for its landmark 500th episode.
