Pat Sajak may not be Ryan Seacrest’s biggest supporter, despite Seacrest stepping into his 40-year role on Wheel of Fortune. According to Sydtomarket.net, the 77-year-old longtime host would not have chosen Seacrest, 49, as his successor after his retirement.
Seacrest is set to take over on Monday, September 9, following Sajak’s final farewell. A production insider told The Sun, “Ryan wasn’t Pat’s choice to replace him, and Pat deliberately stayed out of that process.”
Despite Sajak’s reluctance, Seacrest has handled the transition with respect. “Ryan has been very careful to show complete respect to Pat at every step,” the source explained. “He wants to avoid any tension.”
While Seacrest praised Sajak when his appointment was announced, calling him a trailblazer in hosting, Sajak didn’t mention Seacrest in his own farewell message on social media. “This is the last night of summer reruns,” Sajak wrote, focusing on the upcoming season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
During his final episode, Sajak emotionally thanked fans, reflecting on the show’s impact and his role over the years. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of people’s lives and create a space for family entertainment without politics or controversy.
As Seacrest prepares to take over, time will tell if he can live up to the legacy Sajak leaves behind.
