Taylor Swift Brings Football Flair to Eras Tour Performance in New Orleans

Taylor Swift is not just a pop sensation; she’s also becoming a known football fan, and she showcased that enthusiasm during her Eras Tour performance in New Orleans. On Saturday, October 26, Swift seamlessly incorporated a playful football gesture into her choreography while performing “Midnight Rain.” As she sang the lyric, “He never thinks of me / except when I’m on TV,” she raised her arms in a field goal formation and mouthed the word “Touchdown.” This marks the second consecutive night she added a lighthearted football move to her routine, having pretended to throw a football pass during her show the night before.

Throughout her tour, Swift has been known to mix up her moves during the “Midnight Rain” dance break, incorporating gestures like archery and heart-making with her hands, as well as striking goofy poses. Interestingly, her performances come just ahead of National Tight End Day on October 27, coinciding with her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s role as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs and the recent Super Bowl venue where her shows were held, the Caesars Superdome.

In 2023, after starting her romance with Kelce, Swift revealed her newfound love for football, stating, “Football is awesome, it turns out” in her TIME Person of the Year profile. The two have grown closer, with Swift often seen supporting Kelce at his games. Their relationship has been front and center, especially after she was spotted celebrating on the field following the Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVIII.

In an interview, Swift emphasized the vibrant nature of their public relationship, saying, “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other.” She has quickly embraced the football culture, not only cheering for the Chiefs in style but also learning the game’s rules and even crafting her own plays.

Swift’s growing affection for the sport was evident as she showcased her unique choreography, and she continues to make headlines not just for her music but also for her vibrant engagement with Kelce’s world. Unfortunately, Kelce was unable to attend the New Orleans shows due to a scheduled game, but that didn’t stop the fun. Sabrina Carpenter made a special appearance at the Saturday concert, performing a mashup with Swift during the acoustic set, adding to the electrifying atmosphere of the evening.

As Swift continues her Eras Tour, her blend of music, performance art, and newfound love for football captivates fans, proving once again that she’s a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the stage.
