Dan Hurley, the head coach of UConn, is radiating confidence as the Huskies gear up for what they hope will be a historic season. In an exclusive chat, Hurley expressed that the program is operating at an exceptionally high level of self-assurance as they aim for a third consecutive NCAA title.
With the college basketball season just around the corner, Hurley took a moment to engage with fans in New York City, just weeks ahead of UConn’s opening game on November 6 in Storrs, Connecticut. The back-to-back champions have been the center of attention as they prepare to defend their title, and Hurley’s decision to remain at UConn, instead of joining the Los Angeles Lakers, speaks volumes about his commitment to the program.
“I think we’re even more urgent to keep the program where it is, you know, but now we got a super high level of confidence,” Hurley stated. This heightened sense of urgency is coupled with an unwavering belief in their abilities, which Hurley likened to a basic need: “It’s like needing oxygen; that’s how much we want it.”
If successful, the Huskies would join the ranks of the legendary teams led by John Wooden at UCLA, who last achieved this remarkable feat in the 60s and 70s. Hurley is confident that with the right mindset and determination, the Huskies can make history once again.
