Wiz Khalifa Indicted for Drug Offenses Following Onstage Incident in Romania
In a striking turn of events, Wiz Khalifa has been indicted on drug charges after lighting up on stage during a music festival in Romania this past July.
The Pittsburgh-born rapper, known for hits like “Black and Yellow,” was performing at the Beach Please! Festival on July 13 when he ignited a cannabis cigarette on stage. Shortly thereafter, Romanian authorities escorted the artist off the stage, leading to his arrest the following day. Reports indicate that at the time of the incident, Khalifa was found in possession of 18 grams of cannabis.
On July 14, Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, was taken into custody by Romanian police and charged with illegal drug possession under the jurisdiction of the anti-organized crime unit, DIICOT. Recently, on October 15, DIICOT confirmed that Khalifa faced an indictment, detailing charges of “possession of dangerous drugs without the right, for personal consumption.”
The implications of a drug possession charge in Romania could mean facing prison time ranging from three months to two years. As of now, neither Khalifa nor his team has publicly commented on the indictment.
This isn’t the first time Khalifa’s live performances have made headlines. After the incident at the festival, a video circulated on social media showing the moment he was apprehended. In the aftermath, he expressed on social media that it was not his intention to offend Romanian culture. “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big joint next time,” he posted on X.
As this situation unfolds, fans and followers are left wondering how it will affect Khalifa’s future performances and public image.
