Julianne Hough Claps Back at Bikini Video Critics, Defends Her Body
Julianne Hough is not holding back when it comes to addressing the backlash over her recent Instagram bikini video. The 36-year-old Dancing With the Stars co-host posted a clip over the weekend showcasing her self-care routine while donning a bikini. However, the next day, she took to the comments section to respond to the negative remarks from users, firmly standing against body shaming.
“I usually steer clear of comments like these, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts on this video,” Hough expressed as she began her response. She clarified the purpose of her appearance, stating, “This black hat I’m wearing is a protective cap to shield my hair from the heat. It’s called a banya hat, made of wool, felt, or sheepskin.”
She also promoted the benefits of the red light therapy included in her routine, explaining, “It’s great for your health and serves a dual purpose while enjoying the sauna.”
Hough shared details about trying a trampoline for the first time at a friend’s house as part of their wellness routine, which involves sauna sessions, cold plunges, and jumping—activities meant to support the lymphatic system and boost overall health. “Wearing a bikini is the smartest choice for these activities, especially in this sequence,” she noted.
Taking a moment to address body positivity, Julianne emphasized, “I’ve never felt healthier in my life. In my 20s, I dealt with significant inflammation and faced markers for an autoimmune issue, which I dedicated over a year and a half to addressing. Along the way, I’ve frozen my eggs, which also affects body fluctuations.”
She continued, “I’m at my healthiest and happiest state, from the inside out. Emotions like grief, sadness, and fear can store themselves in the body, and working through them has become a priority for me.”
Julianne described her playful personality as her most genuine self, stating, “When children display their quirkiest sides, it’s often a sign they feel safe. That playful, goofy aspect of me reflects the comfort I find in my skin and my environment. Those close to me understand that this side showcases my freedom from self-judgment and external opinions.”
For those bewildered by her playful demeanor, she offered reassurance: “I comprehend that unfamiliarity can feel unsettling. Regardless of criticism, I intend to feel secure in who I am and enjoy life, which can often be daunting. Why not embrace playfulness, laughter, and the joys of the journey instead of taking everything too seriously?”
She concluded her message on a positive note, spreading love to her followers: “Sending love, light, and positive vibes your way.”
