Jhené Aiko Responds to Insensitive Remarks After Her Home Is Destroyed in LA Wildfires

Jhené Aiko Faces Insensitive Remarks Following Loss of Home in California Wildfires

In a heartbreaking turn of events, singer Jhené Aiko has revealed that her home in Los Angeles was consumed by devastating wildfires that have swept through Southern California, forcing 180,000 people to evacuate and leading to 10 fatalities.

On social media, Aiko shared the grim news, stating, “My children and I have lost everything. Our home has burned to the ground with all our belongings inside. Lord have mercy.” Aiko, who shares a 16-year-old daughter named Namiko with ex-partner O’Ryan and a 2-year-old son, Noah, with her long-time partner Big Sean, expressed her gratitude for their safety but lamented the difficult road ahead as they face starting anew, “My heart is so heavy,” she wrote, offering prayers for all those impacted by the fires.

Although numerous fans and followers rallied in support, some comments were less than sympathetic due to Aiko’s wealth. Responses included sentiments that suggested her financial situation made her loss less significant, with one user remarking, “At least you have money to rebuild.” Aiko, taking notice of the insensitivity, addressed these comments directly, saying, “The fact some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild. I don’t got it like that.”

Additionally, Aiko shared that this tragic event is not the first for her family; she experienced a house fire during her childhood, which left an indelible impact on her. “When I was in the 2nd grade, our home burned down with everything in it,” she recalled. “It was difficult to understand why some kids at school were mean to me, thinking we were wealthy when we weren’t. They assumed we had riches because we were surrounded by love.”

While Aiko acknowledges that she is in a better financial position now, she emphasized her commitment to hard work for her family. “I am fortunate to have made progress since then,” she noted, reflecting on her mother’s strength during challenging times. “I hope to embody as much grace as she did.”

Just last year, Jhené Aiko purchased a property in the Palisades for $5 million after selling her Encino mansion, solidifying her status in the competitive music industry. For those looking to assist wildfire survivors, resources and information are readily available.
