Claire Kittle, the wife of San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, is unashamedly proud of her title as a “WAG,” an acronym for Wives and Girlfriends of professional athletes. The couple tied the knot in April 2019, and Claire embraces the term, recognizing its practical nature. “It’s a short and quick term,” she shared in a recent discussion, emphasizing its effectiveness.

The term has faced criticism, with some labeling it as sexist and derogatory in the past. However, Claire argues that her experience as a WAG is contrary to the associated stereotypes, particularly referencing the reality show “WAGS,” which aired in 2015. She explained, “Understandably so, [the term] kind of has a connotation around it because of the series. My experience has not been like that.”

Claire and George’s love story began back in 2012 at the University of Iowa, where they first crossed paths as student-athletes; George was a football player and Claire played on the women’s basketball team. Their relationship grew as they graduated in 2016 and continued their journey together.

As part of the 49ers community, Claire has formed solid friendships with other players’ wives, including Kristin Juszczyk and Olivia Culpo. She expressed her gratitude for being part of an organization that is consistently rated among the best in the NFL. “This is our eighth year, which is rare given that he’s been with one team,” Claire said. “We’re just so blessed and grateful to be part of this organization.”

When discussing the dynamic among NFL wives, Claire asserted that there is no rivalry between the 49ers wives and those from other teams, such as the Chiefs. She noted the increasing involvement of women in sports, highlighting that it’s a positive trend for everyone involved. Claire is passionate about empowering women, believing that all can achieve greatness.

Preparing for game days, Claire uses Gatorade Hydration Booster, which she described as a convenient way to stay hydrated, especially while on the move. She appreciates the product for its electrolytes and vitamins, noting how easy it is to incorporate into her busy lifestyle.
