Florence Pugh is sharing the impact of her collaboration with Andrew Garfield in their latest film “We Live In Time,” which she describes as a deeply empowering experience. On October 20, Pugh, who is 28 years old, took to social media to express her appreciation for the project, which revolves around a poignant love story that suffers a tragic twist. In her heartfelt Instagram post, Pugh conveyed gratitude towards Garfield, stating, “I’ll forever be empowered by what we created together and the performer you made me want to be each day.”
Pugh also conveyed how special it was for her to take on the role of Almut, one of the film’s leading characters. “I’ve been desperate for a role like this for a few years. A woman who is current and relatable and navigating the very conversations modern women tackle every day,” she emphasized, noting that portraying her character was a highlight in her career, thanks to the brilliant script by Nick Payne and directing by John Crowley.
Garfield, 41, further underscored their commitment to delivering authentic performances, sharing an anecdote from filming a passionate scene where they became so absorbed that they missed the director’s call for ‘cut.’ During a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Garfield revealed, “We do the first take of this very intimate, passionate sex scene, and it’s just the two of us in a closed set. We were so engrossed in the moment that we didn’t hear ‘cut,’ and just kept going because we felt safe and comfortable.”
Alongside Pugh’s tribute were several behind-the-scenes images, including promotional material featuring her buzzed hairstyle and intimate moments shared on set.
The film, which premiered on October 11, explores a decade-long relationship between Garfield’s character, Tobias, and Pugh’s Almut, highlighting the challenges that emerge after a car accident brings them together, eventually leading them through the trials of parenthood and a medical crisis.
Garfield himself has spoken about the nuances of the script, explaining how it resonated with his personal reflections on life and relationships. “I read the script during a period of deep contemplation about love, mortality, and existence,” he shared. “It felt like I had written it from a place of searching for meaning, questioning where I am, and wondering about what lies ahead.”
Both actors have expressed how unique and fulfilling this project has been, with Pugh’s heartfelt remarks and Garfield’s thoughtful reflections marking “We Live In Time” as a standout chapter in their careers.
