Barack Obama Raps Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ at Detroit Rally

Barack Obama Takes the Stage with Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ at Detroit Rally

In a spirited campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan, former President Barack Obama electrified the crowd on Tuesday, October 22, as he threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz ahead of the 2024 election. The 63-year-old Obama made a memorable entrance, introduced by none other than rap icon Eminem, who lent his star power to back the Democratic candidates.

Before diving into his speech, Obama shared a lighthearted moment by reciting lyrics from Eminem’s classic hit “Lose Yourself,” featured on the iconic 8 Mile soundtrack. With a playful nod to the pressure of following a rap legend, Obama remarked, “I gotta admit, I’ve attended a lot of rallies, and I usually don’t get nervous. But I was feeling some kind of way after Eminem’s performance.”

The crowd erupted in laughter as he continued, quoting lines from the song: “I noticed my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti. I’m nervous, but on the surface I look calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep on forgetting.”

Jokingly expressing his admiration for Eminem, Obama added, “I thought Eminem would actually perform, and I was ready to jump in. I love me some Eminem.”
