In a recent interview, Sophie Turner opened up about her emotional split from Joe Jonas, describing it as “incredibly sad.” It’s been roughly a month since the actress finalized her divorce, and she’s still grappling with the aftermath of their relationship. The Game of Thrones star shared her feelings with Harper’s Bazaar, revealing, “I’m going through a legal process right now where I can’t really say much, but it was incredibly sad. We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard.”
The couple shares two daughters: Willa, who is three, and Delphine, who is two. The divorce process began when Joe filed for separation in September 2023, leading to speculation about Sophie’s parenting priorities, with some suggesting that she was more focused on socializing than caring for her children. In fact, Sophie went so far as to file a lawsuit against Joe. She alleged that he was restricting her access to their daughters, particularly when he refused to bring them to England, her home country.
Reflecting on her return to the UK, Sophie stated, “I’m so happy to be back. It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England. I just never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family.” During her years overseas, she missed vital moments in her friends’ lives, including engagements and her own pregnancy milestones. Now, she longs for meaningful connections, recounting a recent dinner where her friend expressed regret at not being able to touch her pregnancy belly.
Sophie also acknowledged the challenges of co-parenting, especially the pain of being apart from her children while they are with their father, as established in their custody agreement. “Before I had kids, I was very depressed and anxious, and I would isolate myself a lot,” she admitted. “Now, I live my life for them. I want them to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships. I want them to see a hard-working mum.”
Currently, she is dating Peregrine Pearson and holds onto the hope of one day creating a large family Christmas. Despite the difficulties she’s faced in her separation, Sophie remains committed to maintaining a cooperative relationship with Joe. In a previous interview with British Vogue, she expressed her frustrations about the situation while highlighting Joe’s role as a father, stating, “I’m unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children. They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
