Andrew Garfield is revealing a deeper side of himself in a recent appearance on the beloved children’s show Sesame Street, where he spoke candidly about the grief of losing his mother, Lynn, to pancreatic cancer in 2019. The poignant episode aired on October 18, and online fans were quick to share clips of Garfield as he got emotional while discussing his experiences with loss.

“It’s perfectly okay to miss someone,” Garfield told Elmo, the iconic red muppet, who responded with his own feelings of sadness. The conversation touched on the complicated nature of grief, with Garfield emphasizing that missing someone is also a sign of love. “When I miss my mom, I remember all the cuddles and hugs we shared, and it feels like I’m close to her in a way,” he explained. “That sadness is a gift. It reminds me of the happiness she brought into my life.”

Channeling the intensity of these emotions, Garfield is currently starring in the film We Live in Time, where he portrays the partner of an award-winning chef, played by Florence Pugh, who is coping with a serious illness. The film premiered in U.K. theaters at the recent BFI London Film Festival and hit U.S. screens on October 18.

Garfield has been actively promoting his new project, making appearances on numerous platforms including screenings, podcasts, and YouTube shows, where he continues to draw attention for his charisma and engaging personality. During a recent episode of YouTube’s Chicken Shop Date, he jokingly navigated romance rumors with the host, Amelia Dimoldenberg, which has kept fans buzzing over their undeniable chemistry.

In closing their playful exchange, Garfield suggested a follow-up meeting to better explore their dynamic. However, Dimoldenberg humorously put a stop to any budding romance, insisting they should focus on being friends instead.

Through this mix of heartfelt discussion about loss and light-hearted banter about potential romance, Andrew Garfield proves that he is much more than just a talented actor—he is also a relatable human navigating the complexities of life and love.
