Ariel Winter Discusses Her Choice to Leave LA for a Quieter Life

Ariel Winter, known for her role as Alex Dunphy on ABC’s beloved sitcom Modern Family, recently shared insights into her significant decision to leave the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles in search of a more tranquil existence. The actress, who was thrust into the limelight at the tender age of 4 due to her parents’ ambitions, expressed that fame was never her goal, stating she’s “never” had any desire for celebrity status.

Reflecting on her journey, the now 26-year-old actress navigated the challenging terrain of a childhood spent in Hollywood. At 11, she landed her iconic role in Modern Family, which ran from 2009 to 2020, yet her early experiences in the entertainment industry were complicated. She was legally emancipated from her parents at 17, shortly after her mother faced serious allegations of abuse—claims that were denied but had a lasting impact on Ariel’s life.

Ariel candidly described her initial entry into acting as “rotten” during a recent appearance on a reality show. She noted, “I was 4. You don’t really decide anything at 4.” Following the conclusion of Modern Family, she made a bold move, selling her home in LA and relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, alongside her boyfriend, Luke Benward.

In a recent interview, Ariel opened up about the nerves she faced in leaving Los Angeles, a place she felt never truly suited her. “I don’t think LA was ever really my vibe, but I just was nervous,” she admitted. However, an opportunity for a fresh start prompted her to embrace change. “I’m in a season of change, and I’m really trying to heal and grow and evolve. It’s opened up my world a lot.”

This shift in perspective comes two years after Ariel made it clear that fame was not something she craved. On her podcast, she expressed her disdain for the invasive nature of celebrity culture, saying, “Part of the reason I always hated LA was because I have been followed by paparazzi for a very long portion of my life, and I really, really dislike having my space invaded.” She emphasized her longing for a life that felt normal, free from the relentless watching that comes with being in the public eye.

With the wholesome content she shares on TikTok, it seems Ariel has found her place in Tennessee, carving out a fulfilling life away from the glitz and glamour of her former surroundings.
