Elton John’s Sad Last Days: Ailing ‘Rocketman’, 77, Reveals His Young Sons ‘Worry’ About his ‘Mortality’ — Amid ‘Crippled’ and ‘Blindness’ Fears

Elton John recently opened up about a heavy burden he feels these days, revealing that his young sons are grappling with fears regarding his mortality. The iconic musician, now 77, has candidly shared the concerns that weigh on the minds of Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, whom he shares with husband David Furnish. The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, have raised their boys amid John’s storied career, and lately, his health struggles have cast a shadow over their family life.

In a heartfelt discussion, John shared how his sons express their profound worry about him not being around for the long haul, saying, “They think about my mortality. They worry about my mortality. Not so much David, but me. They love their daddy and want me around forever, and I would love that too.”

His health has been a significant concern for fans and family alike. After a troubling performance at Glastonbury, where he appeared to be in rough shape, and revelations about being “partially blind” due to a severe eye condition, it’s no wonder those close to him are anxious. The legendary performer has expressed that he wishes to witness pivotal moments in his children’s lives but questions whether he will be there to see them grow up, marry, or have children. “I don’t think I’ll be around for that. Who knows? You never know. That’s why I want to spend as much time with them as possible,” John said.

Retiring from touring in July 2023 after an extensive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, John is keen to focus on family life. He mentioned that time spent together has become increasingly precious to him: “Time together is wonderful and so valuable.” Despite the personal challenges he has faced, John remains optimistic about future creative endeavors, hinting at projects that include musicals and other artistic outlets that keep his spirit vibrant.

Reflecting on his illustrious career, which has spanned over five decades, John stated, “I’ve had a wonderful career, beyond belief. Fifty-two years of pure joy playing music.” With a clear desire to prioritize family while still embracing his passion for creativity, Elton John is navigating this chapter of his life with introspection and gratitude.

As he cherishes moments with his loved ones, the world watches closely, hoping for the best for this musical icon and his family in these trying times.
