Eric Hovde Optimistic About Wisconsin Senate Race

Eric Hovde, the Republican businessman and real estate mogul, expressed his confidence regarding the upcoming Senate race in Wisconsin during a recent interview. Speaking to NewsNation, Hovde shared his optimistic outlook on challenging Democratic incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin.

Hovde remarked, “I feel really good about where the race is heading.” He emphasized the significance of Wisconsin in the political landscape, noting, “A lot of attention is coming to this state now. Wisconsin is the key battleground state. Whoever wins it will probably win the presidency.” He further stated that a victory in this race could shift the control of the U.S. Senate, not just for two years, but potentially for four.

Current polling, however, shows Baldwin holding a lead over Hovde by 4.2 percentage points, as per an average from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ. Hovde acknowledged this lead but pointed out that various polls position him slightly ahead of Donald Trump. “Remember, Wisconsin underpolled Donald Trump by 6 or 7 points in 2016 and by about 6 points in 2020, so I don’t really place a lot of weight on the polls,” he commented.

The contest between Hovde and Baldwin is one of several critical Senate races this year, with the Democratic Party aiming to preserve their grip on the Senate while Republicans are eager to take it back. A recent Marquette University Law School poll indicated Baldwin leading Hovde by 7 points, receiving support from 53 percent of registered and likely voters compared to Hovde’s 46 percent.

The race continues to intensify as both candidates prepare for the challenges ahead, heightening the stakes for the control of the Senate in the forthcoming election.
