Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos Responds to Guy’s Restraining Order Request

Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos has opened up about a troubling restraining order filed against one of her contestants, Guy Gansert. This situation came to light when it was revealed that Guy’s ex-wife, Heidi, sought a temporary protective order against him in October 2021, though she later dropped the request just a month later.

During her appearance on “The Viall Files” podcast, hosted by Nick Viall, Joan reflected on the complexities of the Golden franchise, stating, “We come here with a lot of past. We’ve lived a lot of life, and it doesn’t completely surprise me that there are things they’re maybe not proud of later on.” She emphasized that her experiences with Guy remained positive, saying, “I never saw that side of Guy or of anybody. My interactions with all the guys were pure and lovely.”

Joan mentioned she was unaware of the tumultuous history between Guy and his ex-wife: “I had no idea what the interactions with his ex-wife were at that time.” Despite the allegations against him, Joan maintained that Guy has been a wonderful suitor on the show. “He was so kind to me and so open and so vulnerable,” she said. “I never in a million years would have guessed that there was any kind of past there.”

In the restraining order filing, Heidi claimed there were moments when Guy allegedly threatened her, even suggesting an act of violence by mimicking shooting her with his hand. Guy responded to these serious allegations with a statement shared on Instagram, asserting that he and his ex resolved their issues and that the protective order request was ultimately dismissed.

“This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse and was ultimately resolved,” he stated, highlighting that both parties aimed to uphold their family’s privacy as they resolved their conflict.

Production learned of the protective order application during the vetting process but confirmed that it was never granted, as Heidi had withdrawn her request shortly after filing. With that, Guy was kept in the running for the show.
