Hugh Grant Discusses Fatherhood and Daughter Lulu’s Love for Taylor Swift
Hugh Grant recently opened up about his experience as a father during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The 64-year-old actor affectionately spoke about his two youngest daughters, Lulu and Blue, sharing insights into their unique names and personal anecdotes from his family life.
In a lighthearted moment, Grant revealed that his full name includes an unusual middle name—Mungo. “I don’t know how it happened. I had very unkind parents,” he joked while discussing how he had passed this quirky naming tradition onto his children. During the interview aired on October 30, Grant disclosed his daughter Lulu’s full name for the first time: “Lulu Danger Grant.” He explained that the name was chosen in a moment of panic, with the hope that Lulu could one day boast about her intriguing middle name.
Hugh also shared the story behind naming his 5-year-old daughter, Blue, with help from his son John Mungo. “We asked him what we should name the new baby, and he suggested Kevin after his favorite Minion. Thankfully, we convinced him to pick something else, and he chose Blue because it’s his favorite color,” Hugh recounted.
In addition to naming revelations, Hugh spoke about Lulu’s passion for Taylor Swift. The star had attended one of Swift’s concerts with the pop star’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and later expressed his admiration for the event in a tweet that included a shoutout to Taylor. He mentioned that Lulu dreams of meeting Swift, and despite his efforts to arrange a meet-and-greet, he has yet to succeed.
While Grant is generally private about his family life, he does appreciate the joys and challenges of fatherhood. Reflecting on his experiences, he stated, “It’s lovely to have all that love around. Suddenly you love someone more than yourself. It’s enchanting.” Grant has a total of five children, two with his wife Anna Eberstein and two others with ex Tinglan Hong.
He has previously expressed a desire to have settled down sooner in life, expressing gratitude for his family and his supportive wife. With his characteristic charm, Grant continues to reveal glimpses into his life as a devoted father while maintaining a sense of humor about the ups and downs of parenting.
