In a recent interview, Andrew Garfield opened up about a touching moment involving Jessica Chastain that allowed him to spend precious time with his mother before her passing. Andrew’s mother, Lynn Garfield, succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2019, and he has been transparent about his feelings surrounding that difficult period.
In the conversation, Andrew praised Jessica for her extraordinary act of kindness during the filming of their 2021 project, The Eyes of Tammy Faye. He shared that during a crucial time, Jessica and the film’s producers made the compassionate choice to rearrange the shooting schedule, enabling him to travel back to England and be with his mother for an important ten days.
“What was incredible was that Jessica and David Greenbaum from Searchlight Pictures adjusted the schedule on short notice, pausing our filming in North Carolina so I could go back and spend time with my mom,” Andrew recounted. Their deep conversations during this time, he noted, were meaningful as they got to know each other on a personal level.
Andrew also expressed gratitude toward his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, who, having faced his own loss, encouraged him to prioritize being with his family. This support highlighted the significance of compassion during those challenging moments.
Reflecting on the time spent with his mother, Andrew emphasized the importance of open communication and remaining present. He shared, “The good news is that my mother and I left nothing unsaid. Those final two weeks together were among the most profound of my life, filled with grace amid the tragedy.”
