Joy Behar Discusses Future on The View and Retirement Thoughts

In a recent episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast, Joy Behar opened up about her time on The View and her thoughts on retirement. The beloved television host, now 82, reflected on her most memorable moments while on the panel. During her conversation with Brian Teta, the show’s executive producer, Behar shared her favorite memory: the iconic moment when her co-host Whoopi Goldberg walked off a 2010 interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly. Joy described it as “my greatest moment on the show” and expressed her desire for it to be included in her farewell package when the time comes.

Although the topic of her departure came up, Joy clarified that she has no immediate plans to leave the show. She acknowledged the inevitable nature of departure, stating, “Everybody leaves eventually. Even you will leave eventually.” This comes after fans noted her absence from a few episodes in February when she was involved in a theater project titled My First Ex-Husband. During that time, Whoopi addressed Joy’s absence, wishing her well on opening night.

Joy has been part of The View since its inception in 1997, with a brief hiatus in 2013. After stepping away for two years, she returned in 2015 and has continued to be an integral part of the show. Reflecting on her past departure in 2013, Behar remarked, “You reach a point where you say, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do.” While she claimed that her contract was not renewed due to someone wanting her gone, she also expressed relief, stating, “Good, I’m out of here. I didn’t like the way the show was going at that time.”

As for now, Joy remains committed to The View and its dynamic conversations. Despite the ups and downs of her career, she continues to engage audiences with her sharp wit and candid opinions, leaving fans eagerly anticipating her next move.
