Kaley Cuoco Open to Returning as Penny in The Big Bang Theory
Kaley Cuoco is expressing her enduring love for her character Penny from The Big Bang Theory, revealing she would be thrilled to step back into the role that launched her career. In a candid interview published on October 19, Cuoco shared her feelings with People, reflecting on her 12-year tenure on the hit CBS series that captivated audiences from its debut in September 2007 until its conclusion in 2019.
Cuoco, now 38, acknowledged the profound impact Penny had on her life and career, saying, “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to Chuck Lorre.” She reminisced about the rewarding experiences she had while filming, stating, “It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.”
When asked if she’d consider reprising her beloved role, Cuoco enthusiastically replied, “I would absolutely reprise that role. One hundred percent. I love that character, and I always will.”
The Big Bang Theory, which showcased a group of socially awkward scientists navigating life and love, earned ten Emmy Awards during its impressive run. The show’s success also sparked a spinoff, Young Sheldon, based on Jim Parsons’ character, Sheldon Cooper, which itself has led to a new spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
