Narinder Kaur apologizes for ‘ageing’ remark about Princess Kate after backlash

Narinder Kaur, a guest on Good Morning Britain, has issued an apology over her controversial remarks about Princess Kate that incited widespread backlash. The incident follows the Princess of Wales’s appearance at the Remembrance Day service on November 10, where she attended alongside family members at the Cenotaph war memorial in London.

After the event, Kaur took to X to question Kate’s appearance, specifically noting, “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42? Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.” This comment sparked outrage, with many calling her remarks “sickening.” Critics pointed out that focusing on a woman’s looks, particularly after recovering from cancer, is inappropriate and damaging. One user highlighted the impact of cancer treatment on appearance and criticized the insensitivity of Kaur’s question.

In response to the uproar, Kaur apologized for her “stupid” comment, expressing regret on social media. She revealed that her initial post led to receiving a barrage of “sexual, racist, and violent abuse” from online trolls. In a now-deleted statement, she acknowledged the inappropriateness of her words, particularly given her personal experience with cancer, having lost her brother to the disease.

Kaur further clarified her stance in a video where she reiterated her apology and acknowledged her mistake. She emphasized that she would never comment on Kate’s appearance, especially in light of her health struggles. The incident has drawn considerable attention as discussions around the treatment of women’s appearances in the public eye continue to evolve.

As the situation unfolds, many are left reflecting on the societal pressures that compel public figures to undergo scrutiny over their looks, especially in sensitive contexts.
